ISLAMABAD: Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) Saturday directed all Returning Officers to disqualify candidates for displaying firearms as well aerial firing during the acquisition/submission of nomination papers, which is a blatant violation of ECP Code of Conduct, Geo News reported.
According to a statement issued, there would be a complete ban on carrying/displaying all kinds of firearms in public rallies/processions until the announcement of official election results.
The statement further added, aerial shooting, exploding crackers, and other explosives at public meetings and at or near the polling stations also stood banned.
Moreover, all the District Returning Officer and Returning Officer had been asked to ensure compliance and implementation of the ECP Code of Conduct.
